FAQ

What can I put in my Recycling tote?

Recyclables should be placed in your BLUE tote clean and dry and unbagged. Remember - "When in doubt, leave it out."

  • Loose Paper and Flattened CardboardPlastics #1- #5 (Look for label on item)

  • Aluminum and Metal Food Cans and tins

  • Clean Aluminum Foil and Foil Containers

  • Refundable Beverage Containers

What can I put in my Waste tote?

Bagged household garbage only goes in your GREY tote.

What can NOT go in my totes?
  • Heavy Materials (cement, rocks, bricks)

  • Hazardous Waste

  • Dangerous Goods

  • Bio-Waste

What if my tote is in the wrong place?

You will be provided with detailed instructions on proper placement of your tote. In the event that your tote is not in the correct location, we will leave you a note to help you correct the problem. Please remember that there must be enough room around your tote for our trucks robotic arm to lift and empty your tote.

What if my cart doesn’t get emptied?

Here are some reasons why your cart wasn’t emptied:

  • Your cart was not out by 7am

  • There was not enough space around your tote for collection

  • Your tote lid was not closed all the way

Please call the Town office (306)672-3361  if your tote was not emptied and none of the above applied to you.

Why do I have to roll my tote to one side of the alley?

Having pick up service on one side of the alley allows for our drivers to complete all pick-ups efficiently, and fit properly through all of the Town’s narrow alleys. One-sided pick up will reduce the amount of times our big truck goes up and down the alleys, and save on pick-up time and alley maintenance.

What do I do if my garbage tote or recycling tote fills up before pick up day?

If you have excess garbage or recycling it is best to store it in a safe, dry space until your tote is emptied or consider taking it right to the landfill. Remember, your tote will not be picked if it is overflowing, the lid must be closed completely and any bags left beside your tote will not be picked. If you are finding you continuously have excess waste and recycling, you can sign up for extra totes by calling 306-672-3064. Extra totes will cost $10/month.

What if I am away on pick-up day?

Ask a neighbour, friend or family member if they can roll your tote out for pick up, and return it to its location after it is emptied.

What if my tote is damaged, or vandalized?

Please report damages or vandalism to the Town Office: 306-672-3361. To avoid damages and vandalism always store your tote in a safe and secure spot close to your garage or house. Remember to roll your tote to its storage location as soon as you can after it has been emptied.

What if collection day is a statutory holiday? Do I still put out my cart?

If collection day falls on a holiday, an alternative pick up day will be arranged. Please see the calendar on this page, or call the Town Office to find the alternate schedule.
