News
The Town of Gull Lake would like to provide residents with an update regarding the Town’s water system following recent well rehabilitation work.
Rehabilitation work on PW2-2010 identified a failure of the carbon steel well casing, resulting in rapid infilling of sediment into the water wellPW2-2010.Based on this Beckie Hydrogeologists has concluded that PW2-2010 can no longer be operated in its current condition. We understand that water security is important to every resident, and we believe it is important to share this information openly and keep our community informed.
The good news is that the Town’s current new well is working great and continues to provide a reliable water supply. The inoperable status of well 2010 does not affect the operation of the new well. However, with PW2-2010 no longer operational, the Town does not currently have a backup well available.
The Town recognizes the importance of having a dependable backup water source and is actively exploring options to address this situation. We are committed to doing everything we can to find a practical solution and restore backup capacity to our water system.
We want to reassure residents that this announcement is being made as par tof our commitment to transparency and accountability. While this is an issue that requires our attention, our current new well is operating well, and we continue to have a reliable source of water.
Council and administration take the Town’s water infrastructure seriously. We will continue to investigate possible solutions and keep residents informed as more information becomes available.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work to ensure the long-term reliability of Gull Lake’s water system.
